The Baltic sea Island of Fehmarn

- Up to down: Fehmarnsund Bridge, lighthouse, historic windmill, marina
The golf course is on the island of Fehmarn (Schleswig-Holstein) in the Baltic Sea. The distinctive Fehmarsund Bridge connects the island to the mainland, providing fast and comfortable access to Fehmarn by car. 78 kilometres of coastline, partly with cliffs, rising up to 12 metres high out of the Baltic Sea and 185 sq. km (71 square miles), these are the measurements of our beautiful island.
Fehmarn is one of the areas in Germany with the most sunshine and least rain. That's why people also like to call Fehmarn Sun Island. The largest "town within a town" is the Baltic spa Burg, where you can take therapeutic baths and make use of the many offers to increase your wellness. Other 'districts' are Bannesdorf, Landkirchen and Westfehmarn with altogether 43 small towns and villages in them.
Agriculture has little significance any more on the island. There are a couple of farms still being run. Fehmarn is better known for its large and diverse water bird population. The large bird sanctuary of the NABU draws may visitors every year.
The water quality of the Fehmarn beaches is excellent. You can swim in the sea and in the indoor/outdoor wave pool on the southern beach - it contains sea water.
An interesting place to visit is the ferry dock in Puttgarden. This is where the large Stena Line ferries start for Denmark. There are many maneges on the island. Anyone loving the water or water sports is in the right place on Fehmarn. Fishing, sailing, diving and surfing is what we do here on Fehmarn and everyone is invited to come and join us, especially on Wulfener Hals!
